When God seems so far away...

Sometimes we can see the hand of God in both the big and little things in life but other times it seems absent. It doesn’t necessarily mean He isn’t there because scripture tells us He is Immanuel- God with us- (Isaiah 7:14

So why do we sometimes feel like He is so far away?

Can you think of a time in your life where you stopped and asked God where He went or why He seemed so distant?

Was it a difficult season that you were walking through? or maybe there was a lot of business happening in your life.

Our relationship with God is just like any other relationship. You have to work to get to know the person and either you are growing in that relationship or you are stagnant. It doesn’t magically turn into a deep and meaningful relationship all on its own.

Now think about a current or past relationship that meant a lot to you. What made it so special? Was it something you went through together or was it just a superficial ‘all is good but we don’t really talk about hard stuff’ relationship? No!

Those people who mean so much to you are not the people you don’t really know or the people you don’t let into your struggles. The truest friendships are raw and real. They are not sugar coated. The same is true for God. The more you walk with one another and learn more about one another, the closer that relationship will become.

We need to let God into the deep dark places of our lives. We need to be vulnerable with Him. It isn’t that He doesn’t know they are there. Believe me when I say, He knows your struggles even more then you do <3 It is that He is waiting for you to invite Him in. He is the only one who can restore and heal those dark and painful areas of our lives (1 Peter 5:10)

The next time you ask yourself why God feels so far away, stop and ask yourself, “Have I pursed God lately?”

If the answer is no. I would urge you...no, beg you to turn to the Father and talk to Him. Start by praying and talking to Him. If you don't know where to start you can find a scripture and pray that scripture. Confess to Him and ask Him to help you.

Are you currently walking through a dry season where God seems so far away? Reach out. let us pray for and with you.
