A Letter to Luther on his 3rd Birthday

Dear Luther,

Today you turn 3! It has been so much fun watching you grow over the years. The first year of life we expect there to be difficulty through the transition of adding another person into our family, but I think that if you could tell me, you would agree that this last year has been the hardest yet. I don't pretend to know what it feels like for you on a daily basis and how secluded you probably feel, but I do pray for you daily and try my very best to show you how much you are loved. I pray that as you get older you always know how much we love you. Even through the frustrations of not being able to communicate easily, your father and I want you to know that we love you SO MUCH! We pray daily that you would be able to talk to us and tell us when you are scared, hurt, or sick but we also pray that if it would glorify God more for us to continue down this path that He would give you, dad, and I the patience to work together and understand your needs. Even through all of this, our greatest prayer is that you would see your great need for Jesus as your Savior. We cannot wait to see what this next year has in store for you. We love you, your boisterous laugh, contagious smile, and super snugly self so much! We are so thankful that we get to celebrate YOU today!
