Advent Week 2

“Again the Lord spoke to Ahaz, “Ask a sign of the Lord your God; let it be deep as Sheol or high as heaven.” But Ahaz said, “I will not ask, and I will not put the Lord to the test.” And he said, “Hear then, O house of David! Is it too little for you to weary men, that you weary my God also? Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭7:10-14‬ ‭ In this passage of Isaiah we read about the signs of Immanuel that was prophesied through Isaiah to King Ahaz. To strengthen the faith of the king for an upcoming battle, the Lord invited the king to ask him for a sign. Surprisingly, Ahaz declined. So to bolster the faith of the people in the whole house of David, he gave them a glorious sign. We see this depicted in verse 14 with the for-telling of the virgin birth of Immanuel. Immanuel means "God with us." Ahaz certainly did not fully comprehend this sign but we can look back at this prophesy knowing the good news of the gospel. We know th Yooouat the virgin that was talked about was Mary and her son was Jesus. This is yet another example of God's faithfulness because this prophesy came true. What does Immanuel (God with us) mean to you in your daily life? How does this impact the your daily outlook? I urge you to spend time thanking God for His faithfulness and that He is with us. Thank him for being a good and perfect God that is always faithful to keep his promises. We thank You Immanuel!!
