10 Years Down...Forever to go

On July 12, 2008 two young kids who were head over heels in love decided to make a commitment to God and to one another. This was the day we said, "I do". This was the day we vowed. "til death do us part."

Most romantic Cinderella stories end there by saying... and they lived happily ever after. I am here to tell you that if we ended there, so much of our story would be left out. Although not every moment of the last 10 years has been beautiful and perfect, I wouldn't choose anyone else to do life with.

The last 10 years have brought us some of the most beautiful moments and some of the most heartbreaking moments. I am incredibly thankful that God allowed me to walk through these times with a man who always pointed me back to Jesus. My husband knew that he could provide me temporary joy here on earth but not the eternal joy that we find in Christ (Romans 15:13). He was also able to show me comfort through trials but he knew that I could only find true comfort in the arms of our Savior (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)

If I can give you any advice it is to find a man that loves God more then he loves you. And ladies, love God more then you love your husband.

When we are relational with God and connected to Him, we are able to be filled with His grace, mercy, forgiveness, patience, self control, kindness...and we are able to extend these things to the loved ones around us. When we are not connected with God, we grow impatient, selfish, bitter, unforgiving... and that is what tears relationships apart.

Love God first and foremost so that you can love your spouse, your children, your family, your community...Be rooted in Christ!

{"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope." Romans 15:13

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God." 1 Corinthians 1:3-4 }

Now that you have heard me go on and on about all the mushy stuff we will dive into our anniversary trip with pictures :)

For our anniversary we decided that we wanted to do something we had never done before. We love our kiddos and we love exploring the world that God has created with them but some things are easier without kids and some things you simply cannot do with kids.

We contemplated a few things before settling on leaving the kiddos with my parents at the beach for a few days and traveling up north to hike Mt. Katahdin. We decided to camp up in Millinocket at Wilderness Edge Campground the day before our hike and just spend some time together exploring Baxter State Park and figuring out exactly where we needed to be the next day for our hike. We then turned in for an early night knowing that we would be up at 4am.

For anyone who is curious, we went from Roaring Brook Campground to Chimney pond and then went up saddle trail and somehow got off trail and ended on cathedral. After making it up to the summit we stopped for a few minutes to eat but started to feel some rain drops and the clouds started rolling in. We went across knife's edge to summit Pamola (you can see in the pictures that there was no visibility at Pamola peak due to cloud coverage) and then we went down the Helon Taylor back to Roaring Brook.

It was an absolutely unforgettable experience. I hope you enjoy the compilation of pictures in the slideshow below.
