R.O.O.T.S. Initiative

After hours of training and hard work, my husband Matt and I have reached the point where we need your help. If you regularly read my blog, you are probably aware that we believe that God has called us to care for our bodies in a way that allows us to serve others. We call this Fit to Serve. If you are interested in learning more about this, I urge you to take a few minutes and read my post >>Here<<

Matt and I want to use the running ability that God has blessed us with to specifically serve the organization of Grace Seed. Grace Seed is a non-profit that partners with churches and schools around the world to help create maintainable enterprises and further develop education to help alleviate poverty. We have decided to partner with Grace Seed in their R.O.O.T.S. initiative to help provide Resources, Opportunities, Outcomes, Time, and Skills. After sitting down with the founder of Grace Seed, Bobo Beck, and having him explain some of the areas of need that he is aware of, my husband and I decided that we wanted to raise money to fund a specific need. Last spring Bobo went on a trip to Bolivia and became aware of some needs at Casa de Esperanza. Casa de Esperanza is a Christian based, non-governmental home for orphans that seeks to provide a safe place and basic needs for children while sharing the Good News of Christ with them. The goal at Casa de Esperanza is to show these children that they are loved by God through the way that the workers care for the children. Directly on their web site it states:” Our Children's Home and Training School are aimed to change and renew young lives through the knowledge of Jesus Christ.”

There are many reasons why my husband and I felt compelled to specifically raise funds for Casa de Esperanza, but most importantly we believe that it is vitally important for there to be homes such as these that are showing orphaned children that God can heal our broken hearts and treat us the way a Father should. Every child deserves to know God’s true love. Casa de Esperanza is not just focused on providing basic needs for the children that they care for, they are concerned with the hearts of these children that they may secure a place in eternity with God who will love them perfectly and forever.

Please take a few minutes and watch the following video about Casa de Esperanza:

Besides the everyday needs of food and upkeep around Casa de Esperanza, here are some of the specific needs that have been brought to our attention:

1) They are trying to replace all of the old bedding and mattresses for the children

2) They need to replace some of the roofs

3) They are trying to redo all of the floors in the 7 buildings where the children live.

4) They would love to create a small indoor gym for the children

Please consider partnering with us and Grace Seed and making a donation to Casa de Esperanza. This is more than providing needs for an orphanage, this is an opportunity to help change hearts for Christ.

As you can see from the list of needs, there is a significant amount of money that will be needed to complete these projects. As a fundraiser for Casa de Esperanza, Matt and I will be running the Philadelphia half marathon (13.1 miles) on November 22. We need your help to reach our goal of raising $100 per mile. With both Matt and I running, this makes our goal $2600. Please prayerfully consider partnering with us by donating any amount to help the children of Casa de Esperanza.
